Notable Results

RTDS v. RTDI, et al. – Trial and appellate council for local common carrier. Secured reversal of order dismissing consumer protection act claim in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals against out of state, unregulated motor vehicle manufacturer and parent company.

Benton v. Clark County – Trial council for local municipality defending claims of wrongful discharge, breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims. Five week trial. Secured dismissal of the majority of claims and a verdict as predicted in pretrial evaluations.

Ride the Ducks Litigation – Trial and appellate council for local common carrier involved in fatal mass casualty incident amounting to largest motor vehicle accident in Washington State history. Defended against over 40 claims at trial after resolving nearly 20 claims pre-trial. Tried three sets of plaintiffs’ claims amounting to over 90 days of trial.

Rynning v. Graddy – Trial counsel for individual human resource managers accused of wrongful discharge. Secured summary judgment dismissal for each client.

Confidential Action – Counsel for prosecutors involved in attorney discipline proceedings. Secured dismissal of disciplinary proceedings without discipline.

Lanuza v. Love – Trial counsel for federal prosecutor facing 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims and criminal investigation for falsifying evidence in deportation proceedings. Secured concurrent dismissal of civil claim and favorable resolution of criminal charges.

Confidential Action – Represented confidential informant in federal corruption sting that resulted in conviction of IRS tax auditor for soliciting and accepting bribes in exchange for favorable tax audit results.

State v. Gill – Trial counsel defending individual accused of first degree murder. Secured hung jury on the issue of self defense in initial trial. Client was convicted upon retrial. Each trial lasted over a month.
